Lance Cpl. Jonathan Mendez, a radio operator with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, conducts kettlebell squats during a Force Fitness Program aboard the USS Wasp (LHD-1), off the coast of Okinawa, Japan, Sep. 6, 2018. Mendez, a native of Greendale, Arkansas, graduated Greendale High School May 2016; he enlisted September the same year. The Force Fitness Program was started in 2016 by the 37th Commandant of the Marine Corps with the purpose of teaching Marines injury prevention during physical fitness and proper recovery techniques.
