Lance Cpl. Coleman MacDonald, a rifleman with Company G, Battalion Landing Team, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, fires an M4 carbine during combat marksmanship training aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1), underway in the South China Sea, Sept. 30, 2018. MacDonald, a native of Spokane, Washington, graduated Mt. Spokane High School June 2013; he enlisted October 2016. Marines with Company G conducted moving, standing and kneeling drills during a modified marksmanship training on the flight deck of the USS Wasp. The 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible force ready to perform a wide-range of military operations.
