New York Army National Guard Maj. Stephen Carson seen visiting a Polish military forces operating base during his battlefield circulation efforts at FOB Warrior in Afghanistan in 2009. Carson, then a captain, served as a Physician’s Assistant support of an Alabama Army National Guard engineer battalion during the year-long deployment. Carson supervised a battalion medic supporting a contingent of U.S. Soldiers there. As a medical provider, the sign reminded Carson of the one seen on the MASH television series, although all of the locations on this sign depicted hometowns in Poland. Courtesy photo.
