U.S. Customs and Border Protection Border Patrol Agents at El Paso sector perform non lethal training with Texas Guard service members from 3rd Battalion, 133rd Field Artillery Regiment deployed to the border region as part of the Joint Task Force Guardian Support mission. Sgt. Roberto Gonzales leaps back from CBP Agent Firma Soto's knife slash during combatives class. The week of training includes combatives (hand-to-hand) and shoot-don't shoot scenarios with room and house-clearing skills building; not to mention a great recruitment tool. CBP Agent instructors enjoyed the enthusiasm and high level of participation from the guardsmen. Border Patrol Agent Firma Pena, 23-years on the force said, “These guys are really good participators, they don’t hesitate at all. I am really enjoying that part of it.” The training gives a sneak peak to what a CBP recruit would go through Sept. 2018.
