Assault Amphibian vehicle (AAV) crewmen from 2nd Assault Amphibian Vehicle platoon, Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit make their way to the well deck of the amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima, from the USS New York Oct. 26, 2011. The AAV's practiced loading and off loading from the Iwo Jima as part of the Amphibious Squadron 8 (PHIBRON 8)/ MEU Integration Exercise, known as PMINT. PMINT will take place Oct. 24 to Nov. 3 and is focused on building the Navy-Marine Team and establishing the working relationships and practices necessary to conduct operations from the sea.
