NEW YORK (Sept. 30, 2018) Cmdr. Christian Gaskill, the commanding officer of Navy Recruiting District New York, and his son jump up to touch the banner starting New York's Annual Tunnel to Towers 5K & Walk to pay homage to the city's first responders. Sailors and family members from Navy Recruiting District New York, Navy Operational Support Center New York and several commands in Virginia participated in the event, which retraces the final steps of FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller who lost his life on Sept. 11, 2001 after putting on his gear and running through the tunnel, formely known as the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, to the Twin Towers.
