Soldiers from each country participating in the exercise hold their respective country's flag for the opening ceremony of Slovak Shield 2018 at Lest Military Training Center, Slovakia Sept. 23, 2018. Members from the Slovak, Polish, Hungarian, Czech, and U.S military, to include both active component and the Indiana National Guard units, made up the training audience for the war fighting exercise, Slovak Shield 2018. This staff exercise, a simulated invasion scenario into Slovakia from opposing forces, evaluated how these five specific NATO allies react operationally together to counteract and defeat the opposition.
