Brian Matthews, pilot in command, and Chief Warrant Officer 2 Eric Fry, co-pilot gunner, both from 1st Battalion, 2nd Aviation Regiment, conduct pre-flight inspections on an AH-64D Apache helicopter Oct. 12, prior to gunnery exercises at Fort Carson, Colo. Matthews and Fry were preparing for 13 gunnery scenarios that evaluate attack helicopter teams.
