PHILIPPINE SEA (Sept. 19, 2018) - A Marine attached to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), fast ropes from the flight deck to the hangar bay of the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) out of an MV-22B Osprey tiltrotor aircraft assigned to the “Flying Tigers” of Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 262, reinforced during a visit, board, search and seizure exercise. Wasp, flagship of the Wasp Expeditionary Strike Group, with embarked 31st MEU, is operating in the Indo-Pacific region to enhance interoperability with partners and serve as a ready-response force for any type of contingency.
