Northeast Medical Area Readiness Support Group holds a change of command, Sept. 16, 2018, at a ceremony at Fort Wadsworth Battery Weed on Staten Island, New York.
Maj. Gen. Mary Link oversaw the outgoing commander, Col. Cindy Saladin-Muhammad, pass the command to Col. Steven Gandia. The Northeast Medical Area Readiness Support Group is vitally important to the Army and the Joint Force providing world class health service support across a full range of military operations.
The Change of Command ceremony symbolizes the continuation of leadership and unit identity despite the change of individual authority. It also represents the transfer of power from one leader to another; passing the ceremonial flag from outgoing to incoming commander is a physical representation of that transfer.
