U.S. Army 1st Sgt. Gladston Phinn, from New York City, performs roll call for his missing soldiers at a memorial ceremony on Forward Operating Base Ghazni Oct. 4. The roll call of fallen Soldiers is an Army tradition, after which three volleys are fired by the honor guard and taps is played. 1st Lt. Ivan Lechowich, from Tampa, Fla., U.S. Army Spc. Steven Gutowski, from Weymouth, Mass., and U.S. Army Pfc. David Drake, from Houston, were killed in action Sept. 28, when their vehicle struck an improvised explosive device during a route clearance patrol in eastern Afghanistan. The soldiers were serving with route clearance patrol 72, of the 515th Engineer Company (Sapper), Task Force Dolch, Task Force Sword, based out of Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. (U.S. Army photo by 1st Lt.
