The Puerto Rico National Guard received the visit of the Honduran armed forces leadership at the PRNG Joint Force Headquarters facilities in Fort Buchanan, Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, Aug. 14. This visit is part of the celebration which marks the 20th Anniversary between Puerto Rico and Honduras in the State Partnership Program. The Adjutant General of Puerto Rico, Brig. Gen. Isabelo Rivera hosted the event and welcomed Army Maj. Gen. René Orlando Ponce Fonseca, head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Honduran Armed Forces and many other distinguished guests, to include members of the embassy in Honduras. The group expressed their appreciation of being part of the SPP Program with Puerto Rico and how much the Honduran armed forces benefits from being part of the program. The State Partnership Program is a DoD joint security cooperation program that matches a state’s National Guard with a partner country promoting enduring, mutually beneficial security relationships with allies and friendly nations. Honduras has been a partner with Puerto Rico since 1998.
