Cpl. Matthew J. Rockwell, a motor transportation operator with Combat Logistics Battalion 31, starts a Humvee inside the well deck aboard the dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48), Sept. 12, 2018. Rockwell, a native of Mansfield, Massachussetts, graduated from Mansfield High School in May 2013 before enlisting in March 2015. Marines and Sailors with CLB-31 and Company E, Battalion Landing Team, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, currently underway aboard the Ashland, are preparing with the 31st MEU and Wasp Amphibious Ready Group to assist local agencies and the Federal Emergency Management Agency with distributing emergency relief supplies to the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands after it was struck by Typhoon Mangkhut, Sept. 10-11.
