Retired Col. Danny McKnight, a former Army Ranger who was a ground convoy commander during the battle of Mogadishu in Somalia in 1993, gives the thumbs up, as a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter from the 1st Air Cavalry Brigade takes off during his visit to the soldiers of the 1st ACB Oct. 4. McKnight, along with three other former Army Rangers, was part of the Rangers Tour, which was American 300's first warrior tour that specifically highlighted profiles in extreme courage. McKnight's character was portrayed in the movie Black Hawk Down.
