Vice Adm. Gerald R. Beaman, commander, U.S. 3rd Fleet, speaks to sailors in the chiefs' mess aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Sterett (DDG 104) about retirement issues, enlisted retention boards (ERBs) and budget concerns. Beaman visited the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), the guided-missile destroyers Sterett and USS Momsen (DDG 92) as well as the guided-missile cruiser USS Cape St. George (CG 71) as part of a trip to meet with Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 9 sailors.
