Sri Lanka – U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Michael Lewis, an aerial observer with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 166 Reinforced, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), observes Passing Exercise (PASSEX) between San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock USS Anchorage (LPD 23) and the Sri Lanka Navy while on a regularly scheduled deployment of the Essex Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and 13th MEU, August 28, 2018. USS Anchorage and the embarked Marines of the 13th MEU are conducting a theater security cooperation exercise with the Sri Lankan Navy and Navy Marines. Part of a growing U.S.-Sri Lanka naval partnership, the exercise is also an opportunity for U.S. Seventh Fleet to explore local logistics support services for visiting naval forces operating throughout the Indo-Pacific region.
