180826-N-PH222-0373 TRINCOMALEE, SRI LANKA (August 26, 2018) Sailors assigned to San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock USS Anchorage (LPD 23) and Marines assigned to the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) demonstrate emergency aircraft fire fighting techniques on the flight deck to the Sri Lanka navy sailors during a regularly scheduled deployment of the Essex Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and the 13th MEU. Anchorage and the embarked Marines of the 13th MEU are conducting a theater security cooperation exercise with the Sri Lankan navy and Marines. Part of a growing U.S.-Sri Lanka naval partnership, the exercise is also an opportunity for U.S. Seventh Fleet to explore local logistics support services for visiting naval forces operating throughout the Indo-Pacific region.
