Cpl. Rosetta B. Poveromo, an automotive maintenance technician with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, verifies gear serial numbers aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) at White Beach Naval Facility, Okinawa, Japan, Aug. 21, 2018. Poveromo, a native of West Winfield, New York, graduated Mount Markham High School in June 2016 before enlisting in the Marine Corps in September of the same year. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible force ready to perform a wide-range of military operations in the Indo-Pacific region.
