John Shipe, a military fellow working for Rep. Tim Walz (Minn.) walks out the police station in “Pineland,” a simulated village in which civil affairs soldiers undergo their final qualification before becoming members of the civil affairs community, on September 28, 2011. Shipe is a part of a group of Congressional staff members who are visiting Fort Bragg and Camp Mackall during “Army Reserve Day” to get a better understanding of the training and the challenges the Army Reserve, the U.S. Army Civil Affairs & Psychological Operations Command (Airborne) and the Special Warfare Center & School face on a daily basis.
