The J. Strom Thurmond Dam and Lake Project hosted a clean-up campaign in the weeks leading up to National Public Lands Day, Sept. 24, 2011. The campaign concluded on NPLD with activities like beach vegetation clearing, bird house construction, trail enhancement and trash pick up. Volunteers celebrated afterward with a picnic at the Elijah Beach Shelter at Clarks Hill park. Corps' Savannah District Commander Col. Jeff Hall came out to show his support and thank the community for their volunteerism.
