Sailors attached to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit (EODMU) 5, Detachment Marianas work together with a member of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services to prepare to detonate unexploded ordnance in Marpi, Saipan, August 9, 2018. EODMU5 Detachment Marianas works in direct support of JRM providing EOD support and services throughout the region. EODMU-5 is assigned to Commander, Task Force (CTF) 75, the primary expeditionary task force responsible for the planning and execution of coastal riverine operations, explosive ordnance disposal, diving engineering and construction, and underwater construction in the U.S. 7th fleet area of responsibility.
