Major General Roger Noble, Australian Army, Deputy Commanding General-North and Lieutenant General Gary Volesky, commanding general of America's First Corps salute the color guard during the ceremony opening to celebrate the
“100 years of Courage,” held on Joint Base Lewis-McChord, August 9th, 2018.
The ceremony was to honor those who served and dedicated themselves over the past 100 years within I Corps. I Corps was activated on January 15th, 1918, in France during World War I, marking a great achievement of 100 years of honor, tradition and courage of units deploying, fighting, winning and innovating in complex wars and missions around the world.
The ceremony was followed by a retreat ceremony of the American flag to symbolize the end of celebrations for the “100 years of Courage.”
