180805-N-TW634-313 PACIFIC OCEAN (August 5th, 2018) Captain Chris Cavanaugh, Commander, Submarine Squadron 11, climbs from the hatch of the Chilean Submarine (CS) Simpson (SS 21) up to the pressurized rescue module (PRM) of Undersea Rescue Command (URC), which mated with Simpson on the ocean floor, during the submarine rescue exercise CHILEMAR VIII. CHILEMAR VIII is a bilateral exercise designed to demonstrate interoperability between the U.S. submarine rescue systems and Chilean submarines.
