U.S. Marine Gen. James F. Amos, commandant of the Marine Corps, addresses a crowd of Marines and sailors at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, Sept. 25. Amos thanked the service members for their commitment to the U.S. Africa Command mission and emphasized the importance of oversees contingency operations. He encouraged the Marines in attendance to recall the events of Sept. 11, 2001, to emphasize the importance of the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa mission and how each Marine is an integral part of the Corps' commitment to national security.
