Lt. Col. John Caldwell, 28th Test and Evaluation Squadron commander, 53rd Wing, has been selected to lead the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds as Thunderbird No. 1 for the 2019 aerial demonstration season. Thunderbird No. 1, the squadron’s commander and leader will command more than 120 enlisted personnel, 11 commissioned officers, and lead all demonstration flights.
