Lt. Col. Michael Eliassen, commander 4th Battalion, 23d Infantry briefs his intent at a battalion-level combined arms rehearsal (CAR) during Emergency Deployment Readiness Exercise Courage Ready 18-02, Aug. 5 at Joint Base Lewis–McChord. "By conducting a CAR, we are able to see that the participants understand the commanders intent, understand the mission, exercise discipline, and work together to synchronize their plans," said Eliassen.
