A recruit with Hotel Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, traverses an obstacle during Confidence Course I at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, July 30. The obstacles are used to instill confidence by challenging recruits to overcome their fears. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Hotel Company is scheduled to graduate Oct. 5.
