PACIFIC OCEAN (July 21, 2018) Chief Logistics Specialist Dominique Daphness, from Queens, N.Y., assigned to Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship USS Rushmore (LSD 47), plays music for the ship’s crew during a vertical replenishment during sustainment training exercise. This training allowed the Marines and Sailors to sustain skills developed during a comprehensive six-month pre-deployment training cycle, and included planning and executing ship-to-shore operations, company-sized helicopter and amphibious raids, combat marksmanship, and convoy operations. The Essex ARG/MEU team is a strong, flexible, responsive, and consistent force capable of maneuver warfare across all domains; it is equipped and scalable to respond to any crisis from humanitarian assistance and disaster relief to contingency operations.
