VICENZA, Italy -- U.S. Army Paratrooper Sgt. Alexander Perez, platoon sergeant assigned to D Troop, 1st Squadron, 91st Cavalry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, displays his Running of the Herd bib on July 17th, 2018. The Running of the Herd is an annual 173rd Airborne Brigade relay race honoring fallen Paratroopers. Competitors must complete as many laps as possible around Caserma Del Din's 2.3 mile perimeter road before time runs out. The 173rd Airborne Brigade is the U.S. Army’s Contingency Response Force in Europe, providing rapidly deploying forces to the U.S. Army Europe, Africa and Central Command Areas of Responsibility within 18 hours.
