    Marine Corps Recruiting Command

Marine Sgt. Travis Lindsay talks to Marvalyn Knight and Idalis Vasquez during the 2018 Battles Won Academy in the District of Columbia, July 12. The Battles Won Academy is a part of the Marine Corps’ Semper Fidelis All-American Program, which recognizes young men and women who excel in athletics, but have also shown themselves to be leaders in the classroom and in their hometowns. Nearly 100 high school student-athletes attended the academy, which focused on developing their self-confidence, discipline, teamwork, and honing the fighting spirit that embodies the Marine Corps. Lindsay is from Camp Hill, Pennsylvania and currently serves as a mobile marketing recruiter for 8th Marine Corps District in Fort Worth, Texas. Knight is a mentor for Vasquez from Cross City, Florida, where Vasquez is a student at Dixie County High School. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Phuchung Nguyen)
