Gunnery Sgt. Robert Jimenez talks to students and mentors about the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program during the Battles Won Academy aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia, July 13, 2018. The Battles Won Academy is a part of the Marine Corps’ Semper Fidelis All-American Program, which recognizes young men and women who excel in athletics, but have also shown themselves to be leaders in the classroom and in their community. Nearly 100 high school student-athletes attended the academy, which focused on developing their self-confidence, discipline, teamwork, and honing the fighting spirit that embodies the Marine Corps. Jimenez is from Bakersfield, California and currently serves as the chief instructor at the Martial Arts Center of Excellence aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl.
