SELFRIDGE AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Mich.—Megan Baker, a Department of Agriculture wildlife biologist assigned to the 127th Wing Safety team, applies a federal metal band to the leg of a great-horned owl on July 13, 2018. Baker captures, tags and safely relocates aviary wildlife in the vicinity of Selfridge as part of the Air Force’s safety program, bird/wildlife aircraft strike hazards (BASH). Baker works closely with Selfridge airfield management and the base community to educate people on identifying types of nests and how to report the presence of birds that are a potential hazard.
