John Driscoll commanding officer of the USCGC Bertholf (WMSL 750) briefs his crew along with attached units from Maritime Security Response Team and the U.S. Navy's Black Knight MH-60 Helicopter Squadron July 9, while moored in Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in support of Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise. Twenty-five nations, more than 46 ships and 5 submarines, about 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 27 to Aug. 2 in and around the Hawaiian Island and Southern California. The world’s largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world’s oceans.
