The U.S. Army maintains a high state of readiness. Exercises like Pacific Pathways purposefully employs and stresses units with the highest readiness levels like the Indiana National Guard's 76th Infantry Brigade Combat Team when it arrived in Australia to participate in Hamel. In the western Pacific and Indian Ocean, whether it is humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HA/DR), deterrence missions or honoring security commitments, the U.S. military will remain forward, engaged and ready to respond to any contingency or crisis.
