LT Lauren McKinley, a reservist with the US Navy (left-seated) and CPT Carrie Lauderdale (right-seated) enjoy a dazzling fireworks display at Norfolk's Town Point Park. Both are graduates of Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia; and enjoyed a brief reunion. The fireworks display was part of the City of Norfolk's 36th Annual Great American Picnic at Town Point Park, which honors the country's 242nd Birthday. The fireworks display was the conclusion of the evenings festivities, which featured a performance by the US Navy's Fleet Forces Wind Ensemble, under the direction of LT. Robert J. Coats and a performance by Four Star Edition, under the direction of Musician 1st Class Chris Pastin. Town Point Park is located next to the Hampton Roads Naval Museum, one of ten US Navy Museums under the Naval History and Heritage Command.
