PACIFIC OCEAN -- Sgts. Lucas E. Wallek, left, and Jeffrey Draney stand aboard the amphibious assault ship Makin Island off Southern California's coast Sept 7. The two squad leaders are Operation Iraqi Freedom veterans currently serving with Company I, Battalion Landing Team 3/1. The battalion serves as the ground combat element for the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit. The unit is underway for a second exercise since becoming a complete Marine-air ground task force in May. The 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit is scheduled to deploy this fall. Wallek, 27, is from Alice, Texas. Draney, 25, is from Allegan, Mich. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Tommy Huynh)
