Sgt. Brandon L. Valentine, chief radio operator with Fox Battery, Battalion Landing Team 1/1, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, plays Paramore’s “The Only Exception,” while practicing with their guitars aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Boxer, Aug. 17. Valentine and Hernandez try to learn songs by ear and often add acoustic twists to music from other genres. The 13th MEU is deployed with the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group as the U.S. CENTCOM Theater Reserve Force also providing support for maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the United States 5th Fleet area of operations.
