Sgt. Brandon L. Valentine (left), chief radio operator, and Cpl. Chris B. Hernandez, a motor transport mechanic, both with Fox Battery, Battalion Landing Team 1/1, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), play Steve Miller Band’s “Joker” while practicing with their guitars aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Boxer (LHD-4), Aug. 17, 2011. Valentine and Hernandez have been playing acoustic guitar for almost six years and have been using a sealed passageway on deployment to practice. The 13th MEU is deployed with the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group as the U.S. CENTCOM Theater Reserve Force also providing support for maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the United States 5th Fleet area of operations.
