The sunset parade was held in honor of the U.S. Representative from the 13th Congressional District of Texas and Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, the Honorable Mac Thornberry. The hosting official was U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Steven Rudder, Deputy Commandant for Aviation. The sunset parade summer tradition began in 1954 and features the Silent Drill Platoon, the U.S. Marine Band, the U.S. Marine Drum and Bugle Corps and two marching companies.
