U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. James Mackey is a military police Marine assigned to 3rd Law Enforcement Battalion participating in Khaan Quest 2018 at Five Hills Training Area, Mongolia. Mackey, a native of Burlington, Mass., bears an M-16 rifle mounted with an Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight. Khaan Quest 2018 is a regularly scheduled, multinational exercise co-sponsored by U.S. Pacific Command and hosted annually by the Mongolian Armed Forces. KQ18 is the latest in a continuing series of exercises designed to promote regional peace and security. This year’s exercise marks the 16th anniversary of this training event.
