Sailors from air department's launch and recovery division install rubber slot seals into the catapult track after flight operations while an F/A-18C Hornet from the "Blue Diamonds" of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 146 taxies across the flight deck of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74). A slot seal is used to keep dirt and foreign object debris out of the catapult tracks when not in operation. Stennis, as part of the John C. Stennis Carrier Strike Group, is on a regularly scheduled deployment in support of Maritime Security Operations (MSO).
