U.S. Army National Guard soldiers from the Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa quick reaction force stack themselves for cover behind a Humvee during an active-shooter training exercise on Camp Lemonnier, Aug. 25. The active-shooter training was designed to improve the skills and readiness of service members involved. The quick reaction force is comprised of members from the 1st Battalion, 161st field artillery, out of Kansas. The Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa, under the command of U.S Africa Command, conducts civil and non-combatant military operations in east Africa aimed at enhancing partner-nation capacity, promote regional stability and dissuade potential local conflict.
