Recruits of Fox Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, swim during the Water Survival Basic Qualification course at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, June 11. Although the majority of recruit training is focused on land-based training, combat water survival training is just as critical to learn for an amphibious force. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Fox Company is scheduled to graduate Aug. 10.
