Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Raymond Leach, garrison chaplain, talks to community members during the Memorial Day Prayer Luncheon on May 24, 2018, at Fort McCoy, Wis. The event was Leach’s first prayer luncheon as the new garrison chaplain. The luncheon featured music, prayers, and guest speaker, Chaplain (Brig. Gen.) Robert Pleczkowki, deputy chief of chaplains at the U.S. Army Reserve Office of the Chief of Chaplains in Washington, D.C. Memorial Day is officially observed the last Monday in May and honors the men and women who have died during their military service. Americans often visit cemeteries and gravesites to place flowers or American flags on the graves of service members. (U.S. Army photo by Scott T. Sturkol, Public Affairs Office, Fort McCoy, Wis.)
