Lt. Col. Boeding, commander of the 107th Fighter Squadron, meets with a local resident who maintains a memorial marker near the former Advanced Landing Ground 4, also known as Airfield 4, near Deux-Jumeaux, France, June 3, 2018. The former airfield has since reverted to use as farmland. The 107th Tactical Fighter Squadron operated from the airfield for about a week beginning in late June 1944, becoming the first U.S. reconnaissance squadron to operate from the European mainland during World War II. Personnel and aircraft from the current 107th Fighter Squadron were in France in June 2018 to mark the 74th anniversary of D-Day during the war. The 107th is a component of the 127th Wing, Michigan Air National Guard. (U.S. Air National Guard photo by Tech. Sgt. Dan Heaton)
