The five-year period was chosen to allow users to ensure proper transitions between periods of performance by tracking when contracts are due to expire and planning for follow-on acquisition requirement packages. The system is updated in real time so that users track the most accurate information. The dotted red line on the left marks the current date, and the key in the bottom left corner identifies which contracts have been awarded and which are in the planning stages.
