New recruits with Lima Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, make their initial phone calls home at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, May 21. The next time recruits will be able to contact their loved ones will be by postal mail. Their initial letter home should be expected within 2-3 weeks upon arrival. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Lima Company is scheduled to graduate Aug. 17.
