180511-N-UH314-153 FUJI, Japan (May 11, 2018) Builder Constructionman Josh Kohls, assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5, uses a circular saw to create notches in a piece of timber. The timber will be used as part of a rope climb event for an endurance course that Marine Officer Candidate School prospects must complete. NMCB 5 is the forward deployed Pacific NMCB ready to support major combat operations and humanitarian assistance/disaster relief operations, and to provide general engineering and civil support to Navy, Marine Corps and joint operational forces.
