    180526-N-GX781-0178 - Chief of Naval Operations Admiral John M. Richardson and his father, Capt. William E. Richardson (Ret.), who earned his dolphins on board the USS Scorpion (SSN 589) in 1962, participate in a memorial ceremony for the 50th anniversary of the loss of the USS Scorpion. In 1968, the Richardson family hosted the Scorpion wardroom at their home in Naples, Italy, the last port visit before the Scorpion's loss. Held at the Scorpion Memorial on Naval Station Norfolk, the ceremony was attended by over 500 family members, friends and Shipmates of the 99 crewmembers lost. Speakers for the event were Chief of Naval Operations, Admiral John Richardson; Captain (retired) Bill Richardson, CNO’s father and former Scorpion crewmember; Vice Admiral Joe Tofalo, Commander, Submarine Forces; and Captain Maryetta Nolan, daughter of Scorpion Chief of the Boat, Chief Petty Officer Walter Bishop.
