A fissure in the Puna District of the island of Hawaii spits out a constant flow of lava May 23, 2018. Since the outbreak of more than 20 fissures that began May 3, more than 200 Army and Air National Guard members from the Hawaii National Guard have been activated to assist residents affected by the outbreak.
